MILWAUKEE—In a new video released tonight at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, 11-year-old Estela Juarez from Florida reads a letter she wrote to Donald Trump after he ripped her family apart with his administration’s cruel and mean-spirited immigration policies.

Estela Juarez’s mother came to the United States as a teenager who was undocumented. She worked hard, paid taxes, and married a proud American marine with whom she had two American children, including Estela. But after Estela’s father voted for Donald Trump in 2016, her mother was deported to Mexico, leaving behind a heartbroken family. Estela’s harrowing experience is far too common today in Trump’s America.
